Episode 94: Evanston/Skokie School District 65-Dr. Devon Horton and Joseph Hailpern

This week on Inside the Skev, we are joined by Dr. Devon Horton, Superintendent of Evanston/Skokie School District 65, and Joseph Hailpern, District 65 Board Member. Dr. Horton joined the District 65 team in 2020. We will discuss how the district has responded to the pandemic, instituted social equity, and is preparing for the future.

Prior to joining the District 65 team, Dr. Horton served as the Chief of Schools for the Jefferson County Public School System in Louisville, KY. He began his career in Chicago Public Schools, where he was a middle school teacher for 10 years before moving into building administration. He transitioned into a central office role in 2014 in East St. Louis, where he served as the Deputy Superintendent of Achievement and Administration, before heading to Jefferson County Public Schools in 2018. 

In addition to being a District 65 Board Member, Joseph Hailpern is a local resident, parent of multiple children in District 65 and is principal of Braeside Elementary School in North Shore School District 112 in Highland Park, Ill.
